2.0 Installation Notes for OS/2
Notes:
a) Before installing the ATI OS/2 display drivers, you must
set your system to use the IBM supplied VGA driver. Type SETVGA from
a full screen OS/2 session to accomplish this.
b) Check the Window List (press CTRL-ESC) to see if you have any
WIN-OS/2 or DOS sessions iconized. Close them all as the OS/2 device
driver install will not complete successfully if a WIN-OS/2 or DOS
session is running.
c) To complete the install successfully you will require the following
information:
*The OS/2 boot drive on which the PM driver is located.
*The default ATI OS/2 driver directory is C:\MACH_OS2.
After you have set the operating system to use the IBM supplied VGA driver:
1) Open an OS/2 Window or Full Screen command prompt, insert disk #1 of the
ATI Rage Pro diskettes. Change to the drive containing the ATI disk
and type OS2INST.
2) When the main selection menu appears,
a) Select Drivers Installation and press <Enter>.
b) From the Install Enhanced Drivers menu select IBM OS/2 and
press <Enter>
c) Follow the on screen prompts until this portion of the installation
process complete.
3) When the files have been successfully copied to your hard disk, open an
OS/2 session and type DSPINSTL, then press <Enter>.
4) When the Display Driver Install panel appears, select Primary Display
and click OK to bring up the Primary Display Driver List.
5) Select "ATI Rage Pro (Enhanced x.xx)" from the list and click OK.
Note: Users of OS/2 WARP will be presented with a Monitor
Configuration/Selection panel. Select "Install Using Defaults
for Monitor Type".
6) When the source directory panel appears, select 'Change' and enter:
X:\MACH_OS2 (Replace X with the drive letter of your boot drive
and, if you specified your own driver directory, use the name of that
directory instead of MACH_OS2).
Next, click 'Set' and then 'Install'. After the files are copied,
exit the OS/2 window or full screen session. Shut down and restart
your system.
7) The PM driver will first come up in 640x480, 256 colors mode. Use the
following steps to change the screen resolutions or number of colors:
a) Open 'OS/2 System' folder.
b) Open 'System Setup' folder.
c) Open 'System' object.
b) Select the 'Screen' tab.
e) Select the desired resolution and number of colors from the list.
f) Double click on the system menu icon or select close from the system
menu to close the window.
g) Shut down and restart your system.
