1. OVERVIEW
OS/2 support includes the following hardware controllers:

This software update provides the latest device driver for OS/2
Warp 4 and OS/2 Warp Server for e-business.

2. INSTALLATION
Extract the GenMAC20040127.EXE package contents to the x:\IBMCOM\MACS directory on your system, where x: is the
drive/volume letter of the partition/volume OS/2 or eComStation is installed on.
To install the General MAC driver, use the following procedure:
1) From your boot partition, open an OS/2 Command prompt window.
2) Change to the \IBMCOM subdirectory.
>cd \ibmlan
3) Run the install program MPTS.EXE.
>mpts.exe
4) Select 'Configure...' on the 'Multi-Protocol Transport Services' panel.
The 'Configure' panel is displayed.
5) Select 'LAN Adapters and Protocols', and click 'Configure...'
The 'Adapter and Protocol Configuration' panel is displayed.
6) Select 'MyWi General MAC Driver' from the
Network Adapters list. Then Select 'Add'.
7) Add the desired protocols to the 'MyWi General MAC....' adapter.
8) Select 'OK' on the 'Adapter and Protocol Configuration' panel.
The 'Configure' panel is displayed.
9) Click 'Close'.
The 'Multi-Protocol Transport Services' panel is displayed.
10) Click 'Exit'.
The 'Update config.sys' panel is displayed.
11) Make sure the 'Update config.sys' check box is checked.
Click 'Exit'.
12) Shutdown and reboot the system.

5. RESTRICTIONS
At the moment, the 'Medium Mode' option will only work with 'AUTO'.
6. NIF DESCRIPTION
[NetAddress]: This parameter overrides the network address of the network adapter card. The value of this
parameter is a hexadecimal string of 12 digits, as in 004030123456. The address must be unique
among all other network adapter addresses on the network. The least significant bit of the
1st byte must be zero, and the second significant bit should be one.
Enter a 12-digit hexadecimal value in this field if you wish to use assign the network interface card
another MAC address. It is strongly recommended NOT to change this value.
[DEVICE]: Use of this parameter is only required in systems with more than one adapter installed. If you are
installing more than one PCI adapter:
1) complete the configuration process, but leave the Slot field blank for each driver;
2) restart the system and record the list of Slots that each driver displays;
3) complete the configuration by assigning one of the values from the list to the Slot parameter
of each driver. Leave the field blank if you have only one adapter installed.
Enter a hexadecimal value of the interval [0, FF] in this field. It is recommended to leave this field empty.
[BUS]: Use of this parameter is only required in systems with more than one adapter installed. If you are
installing more than one PCI adapter:
1) complete the configuration process, but leave the Slot field blank for each driver;
2) restart the system and record the list of Slots that each driver displays;
3) complete the configuration by assigning one of the values from the list to the Slot parameter of
each driver. Leave the field blank if you have only one adapter installed.
Enter a hexadecimal value in the interval [0, 2] in this field.
[MEDIUMMODE]: This keyword support Medium to force Mode of this adapter card. The strings of this parameter
is 'AUTO','10F','10H','100F','100H','1000F','1000H'
This setting specifies the speed at which your network interface card will work. The default is 'AUTO' (auto-detect).
F and H as affixes mean Full and Half Duplexing, respecitevly.
